Tongariro National park is an incredibly vast natural volcanic area absolutely spectacular to drive through. It’s home to many stunning walks with plenty of waterfalls, lookout points and wildlife as well as ski fields and the most famous Tongariro Crossing (Mt Doom, in ‘The lord of the rings’).
Tongariro National Park is the oldest national park in New Zealand. It’s located in the central North Island and It has been acknowledged by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site of mixed cultural and natural values.
